BrewDog, the Scottish brewer and pub operator, has continued its expansion with the acquisition of a second site in London, in Shoreditch. The firm has taken a lease on the site on Bethnal Green Road that was previously occupied by craft beer bar Mason & Taylor, sister venue of other beer-focused pubs including the Duke of Welllington in London’s Balls Pond Road and Whitelock’s Ale House in Leeds. The venue takes BrewDog up to 11 UK sites, and its second in the capital after opening in Camden in December. The company, which plans to open the new outlet as BrewDog Shoreditch in late October, said: “BrewDog will be picking up the baton from the previous occupier of the premises and craft beer advocates, Mason & Taylor. All of the staff are being retained by BrewDog and we will seek to build on the excellent work done in promoting craft beer by the Mason & Taylor management and team. “We have supplied Mason & Taylor since it opened and love the staff, the atmosphere and the building itself. We are really excited to have worked with the team there to put this deal together and look forward to continuing to build our relationship with them in the future. Currently seven BrewDog bars operate across the country. Sites in Birmingham and Bristol are also due to open later this year, with a Leeds opening due in 2013. In addition, the firm has entered a partnership deal to open its first bar oversees, in the Swedish capital Stockholm.
