Boris Johnson, the Conservative MP and editor of the Spectator, has been told not to object Brakspear selling its brewery, by the company’s chief executive.

According to the Observer column in the Financial Times, Johnson said: "Jim Burrows came to me and laid out the financial argument. He asked me not to object.

"But I’ve had enough. It’s not on. I’m going to launch a campaign to save the brewery. You can’t brew it somewhere else and think it will taste the same".
