The Cheshire-based Blue Ball Brewery has become the latest microbrewery to secure its first pub, after acquiring the site of the Donato and Sandro’s restaurant in Chester. The business, which founded by Alex Haycraft, who has been brewing in the US for 12 years, and Matt Riley, founder of Home Brew Supermarket, which sells home brewing kit, will open later this summer under the name Kash. The new site includes a beer garden and will be decorated in a wine bar style with a deep purple colour scheme and oak tables. Managing director Riley told a local newspaper: “We want it to be very relaxed. If people want to have a pint they can, if they want to have a snack or a full meal, they can.” The brewery currently supplies ales such as Blonde Bombshell to pubs in Chester and across the country. The business also operates a consultancy operation called Beer Republic, offers advice to pubs on installing microbreweries on site.
