Barworks, the London-based late night operator behind the Electricity Showrooms in Hoxton Square, has acquired its 12th site. The privately owned group has acquired the former Living Room site at Suncourt House in Essex Road in Islington for a nil premium. The 7,716 sq ft site is set over a ground floor and a basement and includes outside seating with a 2am licence. Shelley Sandzer handled the disposal, acting jointly with Richard Susskind & Co, on behalf of Derwent Valley. M&C Report understands that the group could be converting the site into another Electricty Showrooms – its 1920s inspired bar operation. Besides the original Electricity Showrooms Barworks also runs five American-style diner restaurants, called The Diner, in Camden, Kensal Rise, Islington, Shoreditch and Soho. It also runs the Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, The Black Heart, The Slaughtered Lamb, Two Floors and The Railway Hotel in Southend-on-Sea, Essex.
