Bar Sport, the sports-focused bar brand run under franchise, has said it’s in negotiation to open more sites in Greater London and Leicester and is looking to secure more next year. The company has opened four this year, in Loughborough, Ipswich, Maidenhead and Croydon, with “sites in Greater London and Leicester in negotiations”, the firm said. Chris Whirledge of Pub Innsite, a midland-based Specialist Chartered Surveyors retained by Bar Sport, said: “We’ve completed four acquisitions in 12 months and we hope to complete on a further two by the end of the year. We will certainly be looking to build on this momentum next year.” Murray told M&C Report in June it had several franchisees lined up to run its new sites. Murray resurrected the company last summer after the original Bar Sport business fell into administration in 2008 - Murray bought the firm out of administration for an undisclosed sum in 2010. The first Bar Sport franchise this year opened last August at the Waterside in Merry Hill, West Midlands. Last summer Murray announced ambitious plans to open Bar Sports in every UK town and city via franchise.
