David Sax, the award-winning licensee, is to exit the pub sector after placing his two Dorset-based sites on the market. This week Sax sold The Cow in Poole, which was named Pub of the Year in 2007 by M&C Report’s sister publication The Publican’s morning Adverstiser, to Greene King off a guide price of £1.2m for the freehold. Also crowned National Freehouse of the Year in 2007, the Cow is housed in a Victorian building and features a bistro bar and private function room. Sax acquired the then under-performing community pub in August 2003. M&C Report understands that Sax’s second pub, the Museum in Farnham, near Blandford Forum, is also currently under offer. The Michelin Guide-recommended pub, which is located near film director Guy Ritchie's Ashcombe estate, features a bar, restaurant and a number of letting rooms. Christie + Co acted on behalf of Sax on the Cow deal and is also overseeing the sale of the Museum.
