TGI Friday’s UK’s recent opening in Halifax could be significant in the further roll out of the iconic bar and restaurant brand across the country as it will open up further secondary location opportunities. Chief executive Karen Forrester told M&C Report that the company’s 53rd opening in the UK was not huge a departure from the group’s usual format but was seen as a pilot site for future expansion targets. Forrester said: “We haven’t compromised in terms of what Friday’s is all about, but we are interested to see how this site goes as it in a location that could be considered secondary compared to our other sites and should open up a number of other locations going forward.” The group had looked to open seven sites this year, but due to different hold ups, including planning regulations, a number of new launches have been pushed into 2013, such as Brighton. Sites in Blackpool, Leeds Trinity and London Designer Outlet in Wembley is also due to come on line next year. It will open in Jersey before the end of the year. David Muslin of CBRE advises TGI Friday’s UK.
