Shake Shack is to open its latest delivery only kitchen this week in Reading.
Pizza Express will cut 1,300 roles across its estate as it looks to reduce its UK team. With job losses expected at all of its 370 sites, the business has said it has had to make the difficult decision as a result of declining footfall since September and poor city centre trade. The reduction will take place through a combination of voluntary and compulsory redundancies, and it is hoped the newly downsized team will place the business in a better position to prepare for 2021 and beyond.
Pubs and restaurants in areas subject to Scotland’s lower three tiers will be able to serve alcohol indoors again from Monday next week, the first minister Nicola Sturgeon has announced.
Slim Chickens, the Boparan Restaurant Group-owned fast causal concept, has entered into its second franchise agreement. The new deal between Boparan and franchisee KK Restaurants SW will see the brand open five restaurants across the south west of England, with the first due to open in Exeter next month. The Exeter restaurant will be Slim Chickens’ tenth UK site, and second franchise-operated location following its Manchester Trafford Centre opening last month with partner JRK Restaurants.
Five Guys will push on with its expansion plans despite the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic, with at least three new openings set before the end of the year.
Indian restaurant concept Dishoom has expanded its at-home range with the addition of a vegan sausage naan roll kit. The business launched its first at-home offer – the bacon naan roll kit – during the March lockdown, but following calls from plant-based consumers has created a second kit for its online store. The vegan sausage naan roll kit will include ingredients for two rolls with masala chai, alongside cooking instructions, for £16 including delivery.
