Whitbread has appointed Woolworths' finance director Christopher Rogers to help improve shareholder return. Rogers said he was delighted to join a FTSE 100 company. He added: "It's an opportunity to join a big company, with great brands at an exciting stage in its development". He has spent 17 years with former Kingfisher businesses and played an important role in the Woolworths' split with Kingfisher three years ago. Rogers will move at the end of March, and will take over from David Richardson, who will retire on May 1. Chief executive Alan Parker said: "His strong retail and commercial background will enable him to make an immediate contribution at Whitbread as we continue to develop our strategy to maximise shareholder value."
