VisitBritain has appointed Christopher Rodrigues as its new chairman from the beginning of next year. Rodrigues, who was previously president and chief executive of the credit card company Visa, will replace Lord Marshall of Knightsbridge who held the post for the last two years. He will be paid an annual salary of £45,155 and the position will run for four years. The former visa boss has also worked as chief executive of Bradford & Bingley and as chief operating officer of Thomas Cook. Tessa Jowell, culture secretary, said: “Christopher Rodrigues’ credentials are impeccable, with his impressive experience in both the tourism and financial sector. I look forward to working with him to make London 2012 the most successful Games for a host nation’s tourism industry in modern Olympic history.”
