Visit London has appointed Tracy Halliwell as head of business and conventions, as part of its efforts to strengthen its business team in the run up to the Olympic Games. Halliwell will join the organisation in February from her role as vice president of sales and marketing at Millennium & Copthorne Hotels for the EMEA region. She will be responsible for driving the success of the business sales and convention services team, with the meeting and events sector as one of the main legacy opportunities for London before and after 2012. David Hornby, commercial director of Visit London, said: “Tracy’s previous roles, which included director of sales and marketing for Forte London, a posting in Los Angeles heading up sales for the Americas with Le Meridien and her knowledge of the meetings and incentive market will be a great asset to the Visit London team and help us to drive growth for London.” Visit London has been focusing increasingly over the last two years on sales and marketing to attract business to the capital and as a result has achieved a ROI of over 60:1.
