SABMiller, the international brewer, has named Catherine May, formerly corporate affairs director at Centrica, the energy company, as its new director of corporate affairs. She joins on 15 October and takes responsibility for media, investor relations, political affairs, corporate affairs, corporate social responsibility and internal communications. May will be a member of SABMiller's executive committee, reporting to executive chairman Graham Mackay. May also served as group director of corporate relations at the information publishing group Reed Elsevier, and before that was a partner at issues management consultancy Luther Pendragon. She succeeds Sue Clark who was appointed in June 2012 as managing director of SABMiller Europe, having served as the group's corporate affairs Director since 2003. Mackay said: "I am very pleased to welcome Catherine to SABMiller, and delighted that we have been able to attract such a high calibre executive." May said: "The group has long been admired as a global leader in doing business locally, with strong and sustainable businesses that contribute to their local economies. I am very much looking forward to doing my part in building on its great strengths and proven capabilities."
