C&C Group, the Ireland-based producer of Magners and Gaymers ciders, has announced that Paul Walker has been appointed to the new combined role of group general counsel and company secretary. It follows news that previous company secretary Sinead Gillen has stepped down from her role “and will leave the group in due course to pursue other interests”. Earlier this month, Walker was appointed general counsel with responsibility for the group’s corporate governance, legal and regulatory affairs. C&C Group chairman Sir Brian Stewart said: “I would like to thank Sinead Gillen for the contribution that she has made to the group in her time as company secretary. We have decided to combine the roles of group general counsel and group company secretary into one position. We consider that this will enable us to coordinate the governance and business issues of the Group under a single direction.” C&C Group this morning reported a 14% rise in Magners volumes in Britain for the three months to 31 May.
