Thornbridge Brewery, the Derbyshire-based brewer and pub operator, has opened its fourth free-of-tie on cask ale lease from Enterprise Inns. The Stag in Sheffield opened last week, along with the Beauchief Hotel in the city, which is held on a private lease and becomes Thornbridge’s first venue with accommodation; it has eight rooms. The openings take Thornbridge’s estate to 11 sites, with five, including the Beauchief, in its Brewkitchen food-led division. Total refurbishment costs at the pubs are expected to be £60,000 for the Stag and £100,000 for the Beauchief, said marketing manager Alex Buchanan. Thornbridge was named the winner in the Best Pub Operating Microbrewer category at the Publican Awards last week.
