Hairy Lemon, the West Midlands-based pub chain, is looking to add a further two sites over the next three months to take its estate to six, after only opening its first site earlier this year. The privately-funded group, which is led by Martin Breen, opened its first Hairy Lemon site in Sutton Coldfield in February and following the pub’s success launched further pubs under the name in Erdington, Woodgate Valley and in the Square Shopping Centre in Birmingham city centre. The group are hoping to add a further site in Wolverhampton before the end of the year and are currently in negotiations on a site in Walsall. The group, which is named after an infamous Dublin bar, is also looking to add a more “sophisticated” bar section to its exiting sites called the Bitter End. Breen told Midlands Business News that after the next two openings the group will look to “consolidate what we have before looking at our next goal”. He said: “Everything has happened pretty quickly – we want to take stock. Look at what we have and make it even better, improve the brand even more if we can, and then plan from there.”
