The Fat Duck in Bray, Berkshire, has been replaced by Spanish restaurant El Bulli as the top restaurant in the world, in M&C Report’s sister publication Restaurant Magazine’s World 50 Best Restaurant Awards 2006. The Fat Duck slipped to second, while celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant in Royal Hospital Road, Chelsea, London, fell nine places to 14th. However, London-based Japanese restaurant Nobu climbed from 20 to number 12 this year. There were only six British entries in this year’s top 50 compared to 14 in 2005, with a change in voting for this year’s awards incorporating 20 regional judges each representing a different part of the world.
