Arjun and Peter Waney, the co-founders of the Zuma and Roka brands, are to team up with former A-Z Restaurants director Giuliano Lotto, to launch a new Italian restaurant in London’s Mayfair next spring called Banca. The new partners have taken a 15-year lease on a 4,700sq ft site in the former Natwest Bank building in North Audley Street. Restaurant Property advised the landlord Grosvenor on the deal. Offering authentic, non-traditional, Japanese cuisine, the first Zuma restaurant, which was co-founded by chef Raine Becker, was launched in Knightsbridge, London in 2002, followed by further international openings in Hong Kong, Istanbul and Dubai. The first Zuma in the US opened in Miami last year. Waney and Becker are also the founders of the Roka restaurant chain, which launched its first site in Charlotte Street, London, in 2004. A second Roka site in the UK opened in Canary Wharf last year. The pair also operate restaurants under the Roka name in Hong Kong and in Scottsdale, Arizona.
