Wolverhampton & Dudley will more than halve the number of its managed pubs showing Sky television, from 265 to 115. The brewer and pub operator blames “ridiculous” subscription costs and also waning interest in Premiership football amongst its regulars in the Black Country.  It also claims that loud televisions disturb its diners. The move would substantially reduce Wolves’ annual £2.8m Sky bill. Wolves reported a 20% rise in pre-tax profits to £41m (£34.1m).  Turnover from its 2,300 pubs increased from £257.6m to £281.4m and earnings per share rose from 32.8m to 36.2p.
