Urban & Country Leisure (UCL), the pub group that will shortly launch its first hotel site, has unveiled plans to development a hotel arm as part of a £15m investment programme. The group, led by entrepreneur Ross Sanders, plans to build a presence in the accommodation business by developing small-scale boutique-style hotels. UCL said it wanted to open 10 such hotels over the next two-and-half years as well as a further 12 pubs. It will shortly open its first hotel property – the 16-bedroom Lazy Cow in Warwick, which formerly traded as the Globe – following a £1.5m development project. The group operates 14 pubs and pub-restaurants.
