The One Group, the US-based restaurant operator and hospitality group, is to come to the UK and has been signed up to provide the food and beverage operations at the reopened Hippodrome Casino. Simon Thomas, the developer and bingo entrepreneur, is to reopen the London landmark in 2011 - and the property is set to feature a casino, terrace, restaurant, multiple bars and a cabaret as part of its £30m refurbishment. M&C Report understands that John Yantin, the former Novus executive, brokered the deal to bring the operator over and will continue to be involved in The One Groups' UK operations. The venue on the corner of Leicester Square and Charing Cross Road was first launched in 1900 but closed in 2005. It also used to be run by Peter Stringfellow - and in its days as The Talk of the Town played host to Frank Sinatra and Shirley Bassey The One Group opened its first venue in the United States six years ago with the opening of One in the Meatpacking District in New York and by the end of this year will operate 24 venues in the US. These include STK in New York, Miami and Los Angeles and Coco de Ville in Miami and Los Angeles. It is set to open additional STK’s in Las Vegas and at the new Cosmopolitan Hotel, in Atlanta, Georgia as well as a second STK in Midtown New York. The group is also set to run the entire food and beverage operations at the soon-to-be opened Ganesvoort Park Hotel in New York later this year.
