Starbucks has won a four-year court battle with Shanghai’s Xingbake coffee house, which has effectively been using the Starbucks name. The coffee house protested that it did not use the name in English, but “xing” means “star” and “bake” has a pronunciation close to “buck”. Starbucks was awarded 500,000 yuan (£33,000) in damages.
