A landlord has been told that he can have an extension for St George’s Day, as long as he drops the saint’s name. Tony Bennett, the landlord of The Otter in Thorpe Marriott, Norwich, had his application approved after he replaced ‘St George’ with ‘charitable event’. Bennett arrived at the magistrates’ court on a scooter decorated to look like a dragon, flanked by regulars dressed as knights. Julia Howman, a member of the English Democrats, said: "It’s outrageous discrimination towards the English people".
