Spur Steak & Grill, the South African steakhouse brand, has updated and refreshed its brand design and food offering across its six-strong UK estate. The company, which operates 367 restaurants in total, with the majority in Africa, has seven sites in the UK, including a site at the O2 in London, has added a new fascia that carries the statement “Burger, Steak and Ribs People'’. In addition to the new fascia, which includes an updated logo, the chain’s menu now has a clearer, cleaner design and layout and is much easier for customers to navigate. Pierre van Tonder, Spur's managing director, said: “In spite of the economic climate we had a healthy trading period over the festive season. We believe the new branding gives us more standout and clarity and we believe that this and the new menu will better resonate with existing customers and also bring in new ones, which will of course have further positive impact on the business.” Last year, the group , which also operates sites in Australia, Ireland and Dubai, put its international expansion plans on hold, after its overseas operations posted a pre-tax loss for the half-year to the end of December 2010.
