Sports Café Holdings, owner of the six-strong Sports Café chain, this morning reported a half-year operating profit of £79,000, against a loss of £132,000 last year. Ebitda increased by 123% to £645,000. Net cash generation was £424,000, compared with £46,000 in 2004. The company is due to open a further Sports Café site in Newcastle next month, followed by one in Cardiff in the middle of 2006. The group has also announced the launch of the Sports Cafe Casino in Sweden, a joint venture with Boss Media AB. Ian Lenagan, the group’s chairman, said: "I am extremely pleased with the half year performance of Sports Cafe. The launch of the Sports Cafe Casino will mark the beginning of additional sports related potential revenue streams for the company."
