The Khyber, rated the best curry house in Blackburn, is putting on a special menu just in case American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice pops in this week. The restaurant's food is served on plastic plates, some of the ceiling tiles are missing and others hang precariously by threads. But Foreign Secretary Jack Straw will be taking Rice to visit the former milltown in Lancashire which is his constituency. And Faheen Mohammed, whose father opened the Khyber in 1966, is hoping the pair will drop in. He accepts there is "some tension" in the town over Iraq and a "little racism". Some people, he admits, don't want Rice to visit. But he quickly adds: "I do." The Observer 19/03/06 page 5
