A council in South Wales has bought 10,000 new devices to try and cut drink spiking in the region. The Spika Stoppa, which fits into the neck of a bottle and allows a straw to be inserted for drinking, was designed by a Welsh company. Rob Bresenton, of creators GR Tool and Jigwork, said: "As a father I was naturally concerned when I heard that a friend of my daughter had her drink spiked. "So I decided to come up with a device that would make it very difficult for people to slip drugs into unguarded bottles. "I'm hoping that the 'Spika Stoppa' will catch on in a big way, and I'm delighted that Rhondda Cynon Taf has decided to use this deterrent in their pubs and clubs."
