Long-established Kent brewer Shepherd Neame has spent £8.5m upgrading its brewery site in Faversham. When the work is complete in 2010, volume capacity will have increased by 50%. The company has also invested in creating more outdoor areas for smokers in its 375 pubs and is keen to expand. In the last financial year, it bought twelve pubs and sold eight. It has the capacity to double its present debt and go for larger acquisitions. The Times 29/9/07 page 59 (Business)
