Hugh Robertson is to take over from John Penrose as Minister for Sport and Tourism within the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). Robertson is the Conservative MP for Faversham and Mid Kent, holding the post of minister for sport within DCMS since May 2010. Penrose, who was appointed as tourism minister in 2010, is thought to have resigned after the Prime Minister David Cameron’s decision to downsize the DCMS on the conclusion of London 2012. Robertson’s appointment was welcomed by the British Hospitality Association (BHA). BHA deputy chief executive Martin Couchman said: “The BHA is pleased that tourism is now included in Hugh Robertson's brief and we look forward to picking up with him on all the issues that we have been discussing with DCMS.”
