Leisure and hospitality firms believe that keeping costs down is the main challenge facing their business, according to a new survey of 93 companies. Catering equipment supplier Stephensons asked companies to state the greatest challenges facing their business. More than half, 58.2%. pointed to the costs issue, followed by finding new customers (43%), staffing issues (25.3% and predicting trading levels (22.8%). Other challenges stated related to marketing (21.5%) and being inventive (203.%), finding good suppliers and sourcing the best products (17.7%), encouraging customers to return (15.2%) and managing cash flow (12.7%). Henry Stephenson, managing director of Stephensons, said: “With over half of those who participated in the survey stating their main worry was keeping costs to a minimum, it is imperative that as an industry, we do what we can to support the leisure and hospitality sector through these difficult economic periods.”
