The Inland Revenue has given 200 of the UK’s top chefs 30 days to repay supplier “bungs” or face prosecution.

The Revenue cracked down on the system whereby suppliers bribe chefs for taking their products in the form of cash, holidays and cars because they are frequently not declared.

About 20 chefs have received demands for more than £100,000 including backdated interest and fines.
