Bankers for Regent Inns are looking to appoint a corporate-restructuring specialist to evaluate the future of the struggling Australian-themed sports bar chain. Regents Inns, which also owns Jongleurs comedy clubs and the American-style Old Orleans restaurant chain, has seen its share price plunge 95% during the last 18 months. The market value was just under £4m on Friday and it has debts of £80m after being hit by the smoking ban, falling consumer confidence, the England soccer team’s absence from Euro 2008 and the recent rise in alcohol excise duty.
