Out of Town Leisure Group, a company behind a clutch of food retail outlets in Yorskshire, has collapsed into administration. The company, which operated eight units at the Meadowhall shopping centre in Leeds – including French Café, Mamma Amalfi, Thyme Tea Garden and The Lounger Bar – was placed into administration following the resignation of its sole director James Burdall. Burdall, a former director of Little Chef, has also subsequently been arrested by South Yorkshire Police in connection with a fraud inquiry, following the collapse of the group. Around 100 people lost their jobs at sites at the Meadowhall shopping complex. According to a report in the Yorkshire Post, Burdall is being investigated regarding the movement of £1m from companies he controlled, but are owned by Lawrence Wosskow, a US-based entrepreneur. Seven further companies, subsidaries of the Out of Town Leisure Group , have also been placed into administration.
