No Saints, the bar and restaurant group run by ex-Luminar chief executive Stephen Thomas, is to drop plans to open any further sites under its Greene Room format, but plans to open a new multi-cultural entertainment venue called Chi Chi in Birmingham. Thomas told M&C Report that the group, which opened its 14th site at the weekend, the Wonderland in Norwich, hoped to open three more sites before the end of the year, including a Wonderland in Maidstone, Chi Chi in Birmingham and “something special” in his hometown of Cardiff. He said that he had decided to stop the cabaret format that was Greene Room because “I had created something that I liked but no-one else did”. The original Greene Room in Milton Keynes closed earlier this year. He said that Chi Chi, which would take up a 34,000sq ft space in Birmingham city centre would tap into the DNA of the city and its multi-cultural population. Thomas said: “We are opening discussions with a number of associations in the city to get their views on what they want from a night out so that we can operate an arena that is flexible be that for drinking or eating out and works for everyone.” The group also plans to open a third Jam House site in Cambridge near the turn of the year.
