Drinks firms will be banned from marketing products as "slammers" and "shooters" from New Year's Day under a new code of conduct drawn up by the Portman Group to curb down-in-one drinking. Chief executive David Poley said promoting such products was not compatible with responsible drinking. Meanwhile the Government is planning a £10m advertising campaign designed to shock young people by showing photographs of them in humiliating poses after getting drunk.
