Marylebone Warwick Balfour (MWB) has put its Hotel du Vin and Malmaison hotel chains up for sale at £700m. A fortnight ago, MWB had planned a £350m sale-and-leaseback deal on the hotels without their operating companies. The full business consists of 19 boutique hotels plus seven more that are set to open within the next 18 months. The company has hired Bank Of America to sell the businesses and expects the acquirer to retain the current management, led by Malmaison CEO Robert Cook, who was recently awarded a doctorate in business administration from Aberdeen’s Robert Gordon University.
