MWB Group, the operator of the Hotel du Vin, Bistro du Vin and Malmaison hotel chains, has appointed Paul Roberts, formerly of De Vere hotels, as its new finance director. Roberts, who takes up the role in March, joins from De Vere where he was finance director of the group's core 11 hotels that included Cameron House on Loch Lomond and The Grand at Brighton. Prior to De Vere, he spent six years as finance director of the Morgans Hotel Group's London five star business. Roberts has also worked with MacDonald Hotels and Raffles International His appointment comes after Gary Davis, ex-chief executive of De Vere Group’s Village Hotels arm, was recently announced as the new chief executive of MWB and completes the senior restructuring at the boutique hotels business. Davis said: “We are extremely pleased to have been able to appoint someone of Paul's calibre. Not only has he extensive experience in the hospitality industry but has also held key finance posts in leading UK and international boutique hotel companies. Paul is the ideal partner to help us achieve our medium term growth and brand development objectives.” Roberts said: “I am delighted to be joining Malmaison and Hotel du Vin, two brands that I have admired immensely over the years. I am also excited to be returning to the boutique hotel sector.
