Mucho Mas, the Mexican-American fast casual dining concept, has acquired the Old King and Keys pub in the City of London for an undisclosed sum. The company, which was funded by Eric Partaker and Dan Houghton, took a 25-year lease on the site on Fleet Street through Shelley Sandzer, with plans to open the new outlet in the autumn. The partners, who launched their first restaurant in Upper Street in Angel at the end of last year, have ambitious expansion plans and are currently looking for further outlets ranging from 1,000sq ft to 2,000sq ft. The concept, which is described as a “fresh take on Mexican”, is based on a Mexico-style food offering that exists in the US, serving burritos, tacos and salads for an average spend of £6.40 and is part of the new wave of Mexican outlets opening in London.
