Guide Michelin defended itself against allegations from one of its former restaurant reviewers with an unprecedented series of newspapers advertisements. Pascal Remy alleged in The Inspector Sits Down to East that the guide used only a handful of critics and failed to review many of the thousand of restaurants it featured as well as coddling certain favoured chefs. Michelin sacked Remy in December after he allegedly demanded payment to stop publication of his book. Remey says he lost his job because he insisted on publishing.
