C&C Group has reported a 250% increase in volume growth for Magners, its Irish cider brand, for the six months to 31 August. The company said the growth was driven by the “excellent summer weather”, which helped to build on the brand’s national rollout in March. In a trading statement, the group also reported a 25% increase in turnover compared to the same period last year, with turnover for its total cider division up 75%. The company’s cider brand in Ireland, Bulmers, saw sales volume growth of 7%, also driven by the warm weather. However, the company reported a decline in turnover in its soft drinks and snacks division, which was affected by the loss of distribution rights to the Danone Water brands.
