Giorgio Locatelli has resigned as a director of Loco, the chain of Italian pasta/pizza restaurants he founded with Tony Allan, the man behind Fish.

An associate said Locatelli did not wish to be involved with the seven Fish! restaurants that Allan and the businessman Andrew Cohen bought back from the administrators in August through Loco Restaurants.

Locatelli "needed to focus on his own restaurants", and on the forthcoming television series he filmed with Allan, called Tony and Giorgio.

Allan said he has a couple of sites for Loco, including one next to the Fish! in Borough Market, Southwark which is due to open in December. All Loco outlets will include a takeaway and shop.
