Along with their cups of coffee and tea, customers at Knit New York, a new café in Manhattan's East Village, can buy balls of wool and get advice on knitting a sweater. Owner Miriam Maltagliati, 32, says it made "complete sense" to open a café where people could knit. Private knitting lessons are available from $50 (£27) an hour. Business is booming and now Maltagliati plans to expand with a website and mail-order set-up. The Sunday Times 13/06/04 (Business) page 3.16
