The Times asks why children’s food in restaurants is unhealthy and unappealing and publishes details of child-friendly establishments. Mintel says 51% of parents think restaurants only give children junk food. Parents hate most the lack of vegetables, the big knives and forks, lack of straws, cramped conditions, tiny tables, loud music, inflexible staff, rationed napkins, being hidden away by the toilets and dirty highchairs with broken straps. Bank, in Aldwych, London, Stein’s Fish & Chips, in Padstow, Cornwall and The Victoria, in Holkham, Norfolk, are among those that get the thumbs-up. So do the Pizza Express, Wagamama and Giraffe chains. The Times (Body & Soul) 7/09/05 page 14-17
