Indian Restaurants Group (IRG), previously known as Mela Group, has raised £139,475 of working capital through a share placing. The Alternative Investment Market listed company has placed 5,578,994 shares with leisure investment firm Brainspark. Brainspark, which has a major shareholding in Italian theme park Mediapolis, will be left with nearly 30 per cent of the company and chief executive Alfedo Villa will join the board of IRG as a non-executive director. IRG, which has a Mela restaurant in Surrey’s Redhill as well as on London’s Shafestbury Avenue, announced last month that it had made a loss of £680k in 2009.
