Inverarity Morton, the Scottish drinks distributor formed with the merger of wholesalers Inverarity Vaults and Wm Morton, is to close its depot in Symington as it gears up for investment elsewhere in the business. The company, which formed six months ago, said it would spend £400,000 upgrading its systems, including new software, and will be adding new vehicles to its fleet. The closure of the Symington depo, which will mean the loss of three members of staff, came after a review found the business was “overstaffed” with two depos. The company said it was a “tough but essential decision”. The new name for the merged business was also announced today. The company has a combined turnover of £50m and a workforce of 150. It said it has retained all 2,000-plus clients of Inverarity Vaults and Wm Morton, which include pub and bar company G1 Group.
