Hotel Chocolat, the premium chocolate retailer and café operator, is looking to launch its first sites on the continent. The company, which operates 62 sites in the UK, has appointed Cushman & Wakefield to find its first European sites, focusing on Holland and Scandinavia, as it launches international expansion plans. It is understood that the group is hoping to secure its first overseas stores in Scandinavia in the first half of 2012. The fast-growing chain, which saw sales increase 12% to £59.9m in the 12 months to the end of June, plans to also open six further outlets in the UK over the next year. Mark Burlton, head of cross-border retail at Cushman & Wakefield, said: “We are acting for Hotel Chocolat as they look to open in a number of new markets. “We are going to look for the right opportunities, not the number of opportunities, but to start will we will be certainly looking at Amsterdam, Stockholm and Copenhagen.”
