Mark Hix, the restaurateur and chef, has revived plans to open a restaurant in the Grade II-Listed Tramshed power station property in London’s Shoreditch. The chef pulled out of the scheme earlier this year after residents rejected to the business staying open after 11pm. However, M&C Report’s sister publication Restaurant Magazine understands that this issue is set to be overcome, giving Hix the green light to continue with his plans. He is also set to open a new restaurant and bar at the Thompson Hotel in Belgravia, with a launch date set for early next year. Hix currently runs Hix Oyster & Chop House at London’s Smithfield, HIX in Soho, the Albemarle at Brown’s Hotel in Mayfair and Hix Oyster & Fish House, in Lyme Regis. He formed Restaurants Etc in January 2008 with his business partner Ratnesh Bagdai after 17 years as chef director of Caprice Holdings. His other projects include the pop-up restaurant 'HIX' at London’s Frieze Art Fair and HIX Outside, the events company.
