Simon Heffer, in his Saturday column in The Daily Telegraph, pokes fun at the forthcoming ban on smoking in public places in England. He writes that although he has never smoked so much as a salmon in his life, he deplores interference in the lives of restaurateurs and publicans who might want to offer some of their customers the right to sit in their own corner and pursue an early appointment with the grim reaper. He wonders how much longer it will be before the Government prohibits drinking in confined public spaces, too. The Daily Telegraph 02/12/06 page 23 (Simon Heffer on Saturday)
