Hartford Group's pre-tax losses deepened last year to £3.3m from a loss of £2.3m in 1999.

Turnover climbed from £6.9m to £7.3m at the company, which owns the Pharmacy in Notting Hill, London.

The restaurant company said trading had been disappointing since the year-end, attributed to the period of upheaval through which the group had emerged.

This included the appointment of a new board and the successful raising of £3.6m last December.

Hartford said it continued to review opportunities - either start-up or existing operations in hospitality and leisure.
