GB Holdings, the Birmingham-based Barton family-run operator, has secured its fifth venue in the city. The group, which is led by Lawrence Barton, has secured the former Purple Bar & Lounge in the city’s Southside area and will re-open the site later this month under the name Queer. Earlier this year, the group took over the operating of the Nightingale Club, the oldest gay nightclub in Birmingham, after it was acquired out of administration by Westbourne Leisure. It also operates the Loft lounge, the Penthouse and the Village Inn sites in the city.
