Whole Food Market’s Fresh & Wild store in Manhattan’s Union Square will be used as a template to expand the chain both in the US and the UK.
The New York outlet, the third in Manhattan, includes a juice bar serving fruit smoothies and a seating area and while Asian sushi chefs are on site. Two more are planned in Manhattan to add to the 170-strong network of outlets across the US and Canada.
The company has just bought two floors of Barkers, the Kensington High Street department store, in south-west London, which it says will enable it to duplicate the success of the US.
